Conference set to draw more business from China

-

KUALA LUMPUR: The 7th Malaysia-China Entrepreneur Conference (MCEC) aims to bring and strengthen Malaysia’s businesses across China and simultaneously entice businesses from China into Malaysia, creating a two-way beneficial trading economy.

The conference, which will be held at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre on Nov 25, aims to promote and deepen the pragmatic cooperation between the governments and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) of China and Malaysia.

Organised by the Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC), the theme of the annual conference this year is “The Road”, indicating a passageway, access and network to opportunities. The MCEC 2017 is inspired by China’s “One Belt One Road” strategic economic development initiative.

MCEC 2017 organising chairman and MCCC fifth youth council chairman Bryan Chong said the conference is the best place for those interested to venture into the overseas market, to better understand the latest market developments and find ideal partners, suppliers, buyers and agents.

“Over the years, Malaysia has developed a strong bilateral relationship with China, especially in the economic scene.

“China become Malaysia’s largest trading partner for eight consecutive years and with MCEC 2017, our ultimate goal is to open new doors for Malaysian enterprises, especially SMEs, to carve their names internationally,” he said, adding that the conference would be moderated in English and Mandarin.

The highlight of MCEC 2017 will be the business matching programme, with dedicated venues for each of the seven leading industries – property and construction, technology, agriculture, healthcare, services (education and logistics), halal products, as well as manufacturing.

The business matching sessions will not be confined to entities between China and Malaysia – it can also be between two Malaysian units. To date, 650 local business representatives and 250 Chinese enterprises have signed up for MCEC 2017.

MCCC will also kick off the first Malaysia-China Entrepreneur Award to commend outstanding participants and organisations actively involved in promoting economical trade and cultural exchange, as well as widening diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China.

Many Chinese enterprises in Malaysia have confirmed their participations in the business matching sessions. They include the Malaysia branch of China Railway Group Ltd, China First Metallurgical Group, Kuala Lumpur branch of China Railway Rolling Stock Corp and China Machinery Engineering Corp.

MCEC 2017 is now open for public registration. Registration fee for Malaysian participants is RM700 for a full-day event, which comprises participation fee, one-to-one business matching, networking and a gala dinner.
