Credit Suisse announces head of Malaysia coverage
CREDIT Suisse has announced the appointment of Mia Idora Ismail ( pic) as head of Malaysia coverage in its Asia Pacific Investment Banking & Capital Markets (IBCM) department on Nov 23.
Based in Kuala Lumpur, Mia Idora’s focus will be on driving the growth of Credit Suisse’s IBCM business in Malaysia.
Credit Suisse says in a statement that in this role, she will be charged with broadening the bank’s relationships with Malaysian clients, including entrepreneurs and corporates as well as delivering the full range of Credit Suisse’s integrated bank offering in line with its positioning as the trusted entrepreneurs’ bank in Asia Pacific.
She will report to Pankaj Goel and Rizal Gozali, Credit Suisse’s co-heads of IBCM, South-East Asia.
“Mia Idora brings a strong client network and over 20 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions, equity capital markets and corporate fund raisings to Credit Suisse. She joins the bank following seven years at Maybank Investment Bank Bhd, where she led a successful local franchise as co-head of Malaysia mergers & acquisitions.
Malaysia is an important part of Credit Suisse’s South-East Asia franchise, with an established presence in the market since 1995. As one of the most active foreign investment banks in Malaysia, Credit Suisse has advised on numerous marquee and innovative transactions.
These include recent block placements in shares of CIMB Group Holdings Bhd (US$610mil and US$132mil) and of Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (US$113mil) as well as a US$387mil primary placement for Maxis Bhd.
