Aggressive Year of the Dog

- N By Tee Lin Say

THE Year of the Earth Dog starts barking furiously at 5.30am on Feb 4, replacing the jittery crowing of the Fire Rooster. Will the year be better?

Will it continue to yelp with more wealth opportunities following the many golden eggs laid in the Year of the Fiery Rooster?

Datuk Joey Yap, the founder, CEO and master trainer of the Mastery Academy of Chinese Metaphysics had in the previous year said that backdrop of the Rooster year was that of volatility and uncertainty. On that note, he had also called a “buy” on Malaysia and the world.

And quite rightly so, as regardless of the nagging fears of a fall in the stock market (after nine years of the Dow Jones running), the Dow ultimately soared to new record highs.

The same was seen in the FBM KLCI in Malaysia. Pessimism on the economy, poor oil prices and a weak currency failed to botch the uptrend in the market.

Those invested in the Malaysian stocks generally saw their portfolio growing. Will the same be repeated this year?

First and foremost, whenever there is a dog in the chart, there will always be some form of aggression.

“Globally there will be aggression. Political conflicts will continue. But the wealth element remains strong. The ‘Day Master’ for the year is ‘Yin Fire’. Couple this with the ‘metal’ elementment which is hid- hid this year, this sort of wealth is strong and explosive,” says Yap.

Explosiveness creates volatility, which isn’t nescessarily a bad thing as it signifies trading opportunities both on the upside and downside.

Now, a big part of the Dog year will be influenced by its Day Master, which is in the Yin Fire.

An imagery of the Yin Fire will be a candle or a burning log, which is very real. Yang Fire is meanwhile the sun, which outwardly appears stronger than Yin Fire. But Yin Fire when extinguished, can be re-ignited. Thus the Earth Dog year is great for restarting things from scratch, or solving any problems fast.

On the negative side, the Yin Fire can be abit of headless chicken and destroy everything in its path – think of a a forest fire burning everything to the ground.

Hence it can both be effective and reckless.

Yap says that the three important elements in the Dog year are fire, wood and metal. Hence, if anyone were to have these elements in their charts, they will have a good year, provided of course, they take action.

The Yin fire shows that there new territories will be opened, and new channels also created. Thus globally, expect to see further developments and innovations. The economy will continue to chug along and surprise on the upside despite many nervous investors waiting for a fall to happen.

Nonetheless, a growing economy doesn’t mean an equal wealth distribution for all.

“It is no use jumping for joy and thinking you will be rich just because you have good wealth elements this year. The effect will still be zero if you didn’t put in any effort or never invested in the first place. Don’t think you will get your 10 times return. 10 times zero is still zero,” says Yap.

Yap. who is first an entrepreneur is a big believer of taking action, putting in the hard work and getting a task done.

“If you want to do something, do it with passion. That is the secret to success. Do it wholeheartedly. If you are going to do it ‘part time’ then you might as well not do it. You won’t be successful,” says Yap.

Dominance

As for the heavy weightage of wood this year, the dominance of Yang wood shows of people not living up to promises or the policies they put through. It is not all bad though, as the presence of Yin wood shows that certain ongoing projects and desires which have been planned for awhile successfully finish.

President Donald Trump of the US is one such person who will capitalise on this element, as he himself has the Yin Earth in his Day Master.

“Whatever our feelings for Trump, he will turn obstacles into an advantage for himself. His tax plan is something to watch out for,” says Yap.

Meanwhile on the presence of water, which is a significant element this year, it typically signifies thinking and creativity – hence its presence indicates new technological breakthroughs and more new ways of doing things.

On the flip slide, too much water could also mean excessive rain, snow and even the possibility of a tsunami.

Thus just to recap on sectors which are lumped under the fire element, these include food & beverage, airlines, technology, electric and electronics.

Meanwhile the metal industries encompasses gold, automobiles, finance, metal and aluminium among others. The water industry includes journalism, trading, shipping and moving industries. The wood based sectors are furniture, plantations, fashion and clothing among others.

The property sector is of the earth element, and for the Earth Dog year, continues to be slow and heavy.

Yap says that it doesn’t mean that every industry under a good element will do well.

“Again its about whether there is innovation and creativity put into that sector. Just because the technology sector will do well does not mean all the tech companies will thrive. It means that the elements are favourable for these sectors, and if the people running the companies put in strategies to grow it, then they will reap positive results. For those that just rest on their laurels, nothing will happen,” says Yap.

Earth also represents resource and thoughtfulness. So the presence of Yang Earth shows that there is the presence of heavanly powers. People in power will be able to turn setbacks into opportunities. —
