TNB inks large-scale solar PPA with Halpro
PETALING JAYA: Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has signed a large-scale solar photovoltaic power purchase agreement (PPA) with Halpro Engineering Sdn Bhd following a competitive bidding exercise organised by Suruhanjaya Tenaga in the first quarter of 2017.
The bidding exercise was held to develop, among others, the transmission-connected large-scale solar projects. Halpro was set up as a special purpose company in relation to the bid by Majulia Sdn Bhd and Greencells GMBH, a Saarbrücken, Germany-based company.
Halpro will construct and operate a solar photovoltaic energy generating facility of 30MWac to be located in Pekan, Pahang.
“The PPA, which has an expected commercial operation date of Dec 30, 2019, governs the obligations of the parties to sell and purchase the energy generated by the facility for a period of 21 years from the commercial operation date in accordance with the agreed terms and conditions,” it said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.
TNB also signed large-scale solar photovoltaic PPAs last month with Redsol Sdn Bhd and Coral Power Sdn Bhd.
Redsol, a special-purpose company set up by Fumase (M) Sdn Bhd and Scatec Solar Malaysia BV, will build and operate a 30 MW facility in Kerian, Perak while Coral Power, 70%-owned by Minetech Resources Bhd, will generate and sell solar photovoltaic energy to TNB’s grid at the Pantai Remis main distribution sub-station from the company’s 9.99MW solar facility in Manjung, Perak.
Redsol’s PPA have an expected commercial operation date of Dec 31, 2019 to run for 21 years while Coral Power’s 21-year PPA would take effect when all conditions precedent were satisfied.
