Locally-assembled Nissan Serena hybrid MPV receives 1,300 bookings

PETALING JAYA: The 2018 Nissan Serena 2.0L S-Hybrid has received 1,300 bookings and is priced at RM135,500 (Highway Star) and RM147,500 (Premium Highway Star).

Prices for the locally-assembled 2.0-litre seven-seater multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) are inclusive of GST, and on the road without insurance.

It comes with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty, and threeyear or 60,000km maintenanc­e service (whichever comes first).

It is billed as having best-in-class fuel economy of 14.2km per litre and key features include an intelligen­t around view monitor that provides a 360-degree bird’s-eye view of the vehicle for easier manoeuvera­bility, intelligen­t moving object detection that detects and alerts the driver of moving objects surroundin­g the vehicle, and intelligen­t driver alertness that alerts the driver about fatigue (drowsiness) and inattentio­n.

Convenienc­es include hands-free dual power sliding doors, second-row captain seats with dual armrests, a dual rear door design for easier access in tight spaces and a capless fuel filler for better ease at petrol stations.

The Premium Highway Star variant has extra kit like leather seats, a 10.1-inch roof-mounted LCD panel, driving video recorder, 16-inch alloy wheels and security film tinting.

Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd sales and marketing director Christophe­r Tan said the new MPV had received 1,300 bookings.

“In 2013, ETCM was the first to introduce a hybrid MPV to Malaysia. Today, Malaysia is the first country outside Japan to locally assemble the Serena 2.0L S-Hybrid,” he said at the launch of the MPV here.

Also present were Tan Chong Motor Holdings Bhd group CEO Datuk Rosie Tan and Nissan Motor Asia Pacific Co Ltd vice-president (marketing and sales-Asia and Oceania) Vincent Wijnen, and vice-president of business operations Ayako Nakamura.
