IJM unit bags RM 505 mil contract from Affin Bank to build new HQ
PETALING JAYA: A unit of IJM Corp Bhd has been awarded a RM 505 mil superstructure contract from Affin Bank Bhd to build its new 47-storey headquarters at the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) financial district.
In a filing with the stock exchange, the group said IJM Construction Sdn Bhd had accepted the letter of award from Affin Bank yesterday for the construction and completion of the superstructure works of the proposed 47-storey office building.
The duration of the project is 26 months, and it is expected to be completed by December 2020.
In a statement, the group said the Grade-A office building has a gross floor area of about 76,600 square meters and is built over a land area of 1.25 acres.
It comprises a 43-storey office tower on top of a four-storey podium car park and three-storey basement car park, housing a total of 605 car parking bays.
“This contract reinforces our track record of building innovative and iconic high-rise projects in the city centre,” said IJM Corp’s managing director and chief executive officer, Datuk Soam Heng Choon.
In November last year, IJM Construction had been awarded the building’s substructure contract in an earlier work package.
IJM Construction’s other ongoing prime Grade-A office tower projects include HSBC’s new Malaysian headquarters and the IJM-owned Menara Prudential in TRX, Equatorial Plaza on Jalan Sultan Ismail, UOB Malaysia’s Tower 2 on Jalan Raja Laut and Uptown 8 in Damansara Uptown.
Including the Affin Bank project, IJM’s outstanding construction order book stands at a near all-time high of RM 9.3 bil, Soam said.
