BUCG files RM11mil counterclaim against Qudotech
PETALING JAYA: Engineering services provider AWC Bhd’s former client BUCG (M) Sdn Bhd has filed their defence and counterclaim on the group’s wholly owned Qudotech Sdn Bhd for general and special damages of RM11.02mil.
In a Bursa Malaysia filing yesterday, AWC said it has sought its solicitor’s advice on the necessary course of action to be taken.
When contacted, the manage- ment of AWC reaffirmed that BUCG’s counterclaim against Qudotech is not sustainable.
“AWC’s wholly owned subsidiary Qudotech is a world class plumbing company that has an impeccable track record of delivering products of the highest quality.
“This is as demonstrated in the various ongoing and completed projects which include numerous iconic buildings such as The Astaka Johor Bahru and Merdeka PNB 118.
“As mentioned in our announcement, we believe BUCG’s counterclaim against Qudotech is not sustainable,” it said.
The amount of BUCG’s counterclaim against QDT is large and if BUCG is judged in favour, AWC’s earnings per share and net asset per share will adversely and materially be impacted.
On September 20, AWC had filed a lawsuit against BUCG for failing to settle the unpaid portion of the debt for whole plumbing services installation works of one block of serviced apartments and a 55-storey hotel at Jalan Conlay amounting to RM2.06mil.
BUCG, the main contractor of the project, awarded the sub-contract to Qudotech in 2012 for a total consideration of RM10.24mil.
