RHB Banking Group and AirAsia tie up in loyalty programme
SEPANG: RHB Banking Group and AirAsia BIG Loyalty have entered into a partnership to introduce a value-added loyalty programme that enables RHB customers to accumulate AirAsia BIG Points across selected retail banking products.
RHB Banking Group managing director Datuk Khairussaleh Ramli said: “This partnership will see RHB customers being rewarded with points, which are convertible into AirAsia BIG Loyalty points for every ringgit spent when they save, invest or spend with RHB.
“This, in turn, can be redeemed for free flights from AirAsia or AirAsia X,” Khairussaleh said after a memorandum of understanding signing between the two companies yesterday.
Besides flights, BIG Points can be used to redeem hotel accommodation, shopping, dining and other services.
“For now, this programme would be applicable to selected transac- tions done locally, but over time, we will extend them to regional and international transactions as well,” he said, adding that this was an opportunity to reward its four mil- lion customers.
Khairussaleh said according to a survey conducted by the banking group, one in two Malaysians think overseas travel is important.
“They are even willing to give up shopping or to shop less to fund their overseas holidays. (But) they are also the most budget-conscious in the region, with 72% of them selecting holiday destinations based on their budgets or existing promotions,” Khairussaleh said.
Director of BIG Loyalty Bhd Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said: “In terms of BigPay and treasury services, we are in the process of talking with RHB for exchange rates, etc.
“RHB has a good Asean structure that we can leverage on as well.
“At the right time, we will also announce our RHB and BigPay collaboration (for the e-wallet). Their (RHB’s) geographical presence fits our strategy well.”
In conjunction with the latest partnership, RHB credit and debit customers will be given a one-week priority access to redeem flights at up to 90% off using BIG Points from as low as 500 before the benefits are open to the public.

Alternatively, customers can also log on to https://logon.rhb.com. my to redeem points. The priority redemption period is between Nov 26 and Dec 2, 2018 on airasiabig. com and AirAsia BIG Loyalty app.
RHB customers can enjoy 500 BIG Points for every 3,000 reward points accumulated through RHB Rewards Points Credit Card, subject to the type of cards customers are holding.
In addition, customers with RHB rewards points will enjoy a bonus of 50% more BIG Points when they convert between now and Dec 31, 2018.
