NCCIM: Malaysia remains ideal trade and investment destination for China

KUALA LUMPUR: Despite the surrounding global economic uncertainties, Malaysia remains as an ideal destination for China to promote trade and investment.

National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM) president Tan Sri Ter Leong Yap said the Malaysian business community is ever welcoming to Chinese investments in Malaysia and that there is much room for growth and development.

“Malaysia is a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean).

“Coupled with the comprehensive economic partnerships that Malaysia has in the region, we are a destination of choice for China to promote trade and investment,” he said, during a luncheon meeting yesterday with the delegation from China Entrepreneur Club (CEC).

Ter added that many Chinese companies which have expressed their interest in trading or investing in Malaysia are involved in the high technology industries, which can in turn contribute to Malaysia’s economic growth.

To name a few, some of these Chinese companies are in the industries of information technology (IT), property-related offerings to the likes of high technology parks, entertainment, agricultural products as well as oil and gas.

“There is still a lot to do, in terms of promoting Malaysia as a trade and investment destination.

“Many companies in China, particularly private companies, are still unaware of Malaysia and its potential,” said Ter.
