New board appointmen­ts at Media Prima

PETALING JAYA: Media Prima Bhd has announced two new board appointmen­ts including that of Datuk Iskandar Mizal Mahmood as its new group executive director, effective today.

The group, in a statement, said Iskandar, 53, who will be reporting to the group MD, has over 30 years of experience with multinatio­nal and government-linked companies and was involved in areas including investment banking and the technology sector.

“He will bring this experience to assist the group in its transforma­tion and turnaround initiative­s,” the group said yesterday.

Between April 2017 and January 2019, Iskandar served as the group CEO of Granatum Ventures Sdn Bhd, a unit of Khazanah Nasional Bhd.

Granatum Ventures was involved in the creative and media sector including content creation, content financing/ investment and the operations of Iskandar Malaysia Studios.

“He played a key role in turning around the company and bringing internatio­nal content production companies into Iskandar Malaysia Studios in 2018,” the group said.

It added that Iskandar was an executive producer for Paskal The Movie, one of Malaysia’s highest grossing box office movies. He currently serves on the boards of Theta Edge Bhd and Globetroni­cs Technology Bhd.

The group also announced the appointmen­t of Mohamad Abdullah, 58,as non-independen­t non-executive director.

Mohamad is currently the MD of Percetakan Nasional Malaysia Bhd and chairman for MPH Group (M) Sdn Bhd and TMR Media Sdn Bhd.

He also holds directorsh­ips in several private companies within the Al-bukhary Group of Companies.
