Setia City Mall undergoes upgrading, expansion

SHAH ALAM: The Setia City Mall is currently undergoing upgrading and expansion works to create an additional retail space, which will make it the largest shopping destinatio­n in Shah Alam.

Currently spanning over 730,000 sq ft, the expansion, which will see an investment of over Rm500mil, will create an additional circa 450,000 sq ft.

The expansion phase will add a further 1,800 parking bays to the current 2,500 bays for a total of 4,300 parking bays upon completion.

The new wing will add 150 retail outlets, sprawled throughout the three levels of the mall, increasing the existing 235 retailers which currently include key tenants such as Parkson, Urban Fresh, Golden Screen Cinemas, Zara, H&M, Uniqlo and Fitness First.

Visitors can look forward to popular local and internatio­nal brands in the expansion phase including quality retail, dining and fashion options.

Lulu Hypermarke­t and Department­al Store from the Middle East, which commands a 32% market share in the Middle East and North African region, will be occupying 150,000 sq ft.

To improve the mall’s appeal to families, there will also be an edutainmen­t playland for kids located at Level 1, called Kidz Zone which is a 12,000-sq-ft indoor playground.

This will see an enhanced tenant mix and facilities and provide patrons with a wider range of fashion, dining, leisure and entertainm­ent offers and fresher experience­s.

The mall’s existing and expansion phase is currently over 80% leased or in advanced negotiatio­ns.

SP Setia Bhd executive vice-president Datuk Tan Hon Lim said the expansion of Setia City Mall at this juncture augurs well with the group’s long-term vision for its investment property arm.
