Hiring trends
ABOUT 50% of the employers surveyed are looking to hire within three months after the movement control order (MCO) and 76% of companies are considering hiring new employees within six months of the post-mco period.
Eighty-six per cent of companies said they are not considering any retrenchment plans, but will implement pay cuts.
The most sought-after jobs are lorry drivers, software engineers, sales and marketing executives, nurses, e-commerce executives and social media executives.
These are the findings of a survey conducted by Jobstore.com. In its June survey – “Covid-19 Hiring Survey” – it attracted 6,682 responses from various industries, including healthcare, technology, professional services, entertainment, financial services, biotechnology, construction, logistics-shipping-transportation and real estate. This is its second such survey, its first was in April.
The results showed that 81% of respondents opted for the removal of non-contractual allowances and benefits, and 56% are planning to reduce permanent employees but increase contractual employees. About 45% will implement unpaid leave and 42% opted to freeze the headcount.
The survey also revealed that 81% of responding employees are not considering changing their current jobs after the MCO and the reason is that it is difficult to secure better jobs.
About 65% of employees are willing to support companies going through the MCO period and more than half believe it is not the right time to change jobs, given the uncertain economic times.
