CGC appoints Mohd Hussein as chairman
KUALA LUMPUR: Credit Guarantee Corp Malaysia Bhd (CGC) has appointed Datuk Mohammed Hussein as its new chairman, effective yesterday.
CGC, in a statement yesterday, said Hussein succeeded Datuk Agil Natt who stepped down as chairman on June 30.
A holder of a Bachelor of Commerce degree, majoring in accounting from the University of Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia, Hussein was with the Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) group for 31 years.
During that period he held various senior management positions, including head of corporate banking, head of commercial banking and head of Malaysian operations.
He was also the managing director of Aseambankers Malaysia Bhd (currently known as Maybank Investment Bank Bhd) and deputy president/executive director/ chief financial officer of the Maybank Group prior to his retirement on Jan 30, 2008.
Currently, Mohammed Hussein is the independent non-executive chairman of Gamuda Bhd, Hap Seng Plantations Holdings Bhd and Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Keluarga Bhd.
He is also the Corporate Debt Restructuring Committee chairman, which is sponsored by Bank Negara to facilitate the resolution and restructuring of major corporate debts. —
