Digital tech to manage transportation, logistics crucial

-

PETALING JAYA: The Mydigital Catalytic Projects Task Force (CPTF) say smart solutions such as Smart Highway and Smart Mobility will be utilised in the transportation and logistics sector to enhance road safety, reduce congestion and provide a seamless mobility experience to road users.

Given the increase in road users, the need to deploy digital technology to manage traffic flow has become more imperative to ensure safer highways for users, Mydigital added.

PLUS Highways, in partnership with Celcom Axiata Bhd, will leverage on the CPTF platform. In the first half of 2022, PLUS Highways recorded average daily users of between 1.5 million and 1.8 million and 6,122 accidents.

The CPTF is also supporting the adoption of electric vehicles (EV) in Malaysia, by facilitating and providing linkages to the Government’s National Agenda of commissioning 10,000 EV charging stations by 2025 under the Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint 2021 to 2030.

“The CPTF is growing into its role of driving technological adoption in Malaysia in various sectors. We have proposed a series of discussions and problem-solving workshops to establish a workable framework track record.

“Some policy issues will be escalated to the Cabinet for further discussion to facilitate problem-solving cutting across the various ministries, industry sectors and technology domains,” said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy) and co-chairman of CPTF Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.

He added there are various challenges to be solved and the CPTF will ensure the catalytic projects are fully focused on delivering the intended results of debottlenecking issues related to regulations and policies in the verticals identified, and creating easier pathways

for other companies within the sector to grow.

Council Member of MED4IRN and co-chairman of the CPTF Tan Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim said the catalytic projects under Mydigital are Public-private Partnerships (PPPS) which will see the private sector lead and finance projects which need to be accelerated.

“The identification of sectors by the CPTF is the first step to establish a workable framework track-record.

“We are making game-changing moves which will unlock exponential growth in transportation, logistics and elsewhere through technology,” he said.

He urged the private sector to leverage on the CPTF platform to solve project challenges and contribute to the Mydigital aspiration.

The Mydigital catalytic projects are a proactive initiative by the Malaysian government based on PPPS to accelerate the digital and technological transformation of Malaysia’s economy.

It paves the way for a future where the public and private sectors collaborate in tackling issues to future proof the economy via technological solutions.

Meanwhile, the CPTF has also cut the approval processing time for Aerial Work Certificates by 50% to encourage the use of drone technology in precision farming.

This move was done by Mydigital Corp in association with Aerodyne Group, Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia, Department of Survey and Mapping Malaysia, Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology & Innovation and Special Task Force to Facilitate Business after the first CPTF meeting held in April 2022.

Mudigital added Intel will introduce Autonomous Moving Robots to promote co-working between humans and robots, an initiative geared to small and medium enterprises.
