Elderly man assaulted on bus
Ticket inspector kicks him for refusing to buy new ticket
AN 82-year-old man was allegedly kicked and punched in a bus after he refused to pay an extra RM1 for his fare from Kuala Lumpur to Rawang, Utusan Malaysia reported.
Wong Soo Tian was further humiliated by not being allowed to take a seat during the journey.
The senior citizen claimed he bought a ticket in the bus for his journey home after an eye examination at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital on March 6.
However, when the ticket inspector came along, he was told the ticket was invalid and was asked to buy a new one. Wong refused.
“He told me to get out of the bus if I didn’t buy another ticket,” Wong said, adding that the man kicked him and told him to leave or stand throughout the ride.
Wong said the ticket inspector then called a friend to drag him out and punched him when he refused to alight from the bus.
He lodged reports with the Rawang district police and the Selangor Road Transport Department.

Roselyn Alan, 25, said Handry Yongot, a Filipino who was raised in Kota Kinabalu, has no idea of his roots and has no relatives or family members in the Philippines.
“Please let him stay in Malaysia, where he can be close to his son,” said Roselyn, who is divorced from Handry.
They have a son, six-year-old Mohamed Hafis, who is staying with Roselyn in Seri Alam, Johor.
Their daughter, fondly known as Dirang, went missing on March 1 after going alone to a sundry shop near their home. Her charred remains were found seven days later in an oil palm plantation in nearby Masai.
Yongot faces deportation as he has failed to produce a valid travel document.
