More than paper qualifications at FMM

-

A person who strives to deliver what has been entrusted to him, thinks out of the box in resolving problems and perseveres is the one much sought-after by employers.

Those seeking employment in today’s progressive economy have to take note that getting employed takes more than paper qualifications, skill sets and competencies.

Additionally, good attitude towards work is what makes one stand out from the rest of the pack. The Institut FMM graduates are great examples of this complete package.

The FMM Diploma programmes were developed in close consultation with industry. This is made possible with the network of over 2,500 member companies of FMM who consist of leading manufacturing and services companies. Representatives from the industry are invited to sit on the Curriculum Development Committee. The input from the industry is very much reflected in the subjects offered under each of the four Diploma programmes offered by Institut FMM namely, Diploma in Logistics Management, Diploma in Business Management, Diploma in Human Resource and Industrial Relations and Diploma in Manufacturing Management. This is to ensure that the knowledge gained by students from all of its subjects is applied in their workplace environment. Classes conducted over the weekends provide greater flexibility for those taking the diploma programmes.

“Institut FMM is a training ground for corporates, so if I could mix with them, it will be like killing two birds with one stone; study knowledge + work experience. Additionally the course fee is also affordable,” says a former top graduate of the Institute, Fong Woon Bing.

Fong also says most of the practitioners are from various industries and holding crucial positions in their companies. “For them to take time out from their busy schedule to impart their industrial knowledge to students is just priceless.”

Fong works in a bathroom products company in the logistics and supply chain team.

“The knowledge that I gained from FMM Diploma in Logistics Management really helped me to understand the issues affecting the company’s logistics and supply chain. For example the conventional logistics requirement was to have enough trucks and manpower to deliver the goods to customers. However, the current globalised world is a lot more than trucks and manpower. It is also about delivering products in good condition and on time, maximising trucks routes and minimise trucks’ turnaround time. All the stated performances will be translated into cost savings, which is what the top management wants to see.

Fong added, “The rich experience that I gained through the FMM Diploma Programme also helped me to progress onto a BSC in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.”

Institut FMM is housed at Wisma FMM in Bandar Sri Damansara. It has a well-equipped seminar hall with a sitting capacity of 250 participants, 10 modern training rooms with a total seating capacity of 250 participants and an IT laboratory that can accommodate 20 participants. There is also the FMM Business Information Centre and library available to students.
