SMART Reader Creative Teaching Methodology founder Dr K H Wang, has done it again. She has bagged yet two more awards making her the only woman entrepreneur to have amassed more than 20 local and international awards in a span of five years.

Her most recent achievements include the prestigious Special Achievement Award – Individual and Women Achievement of the Year Award, from the first-ever Malaysia Achievement Summit & Awards (Maca) 2012. The special awards were conferred for her contributions in the areas of personal development and motivation in the field of preschool education.

This multi-faceted edupreneur is listed in the Malaysia Book Of Records with the certification of the Most Number of Awards Won by an Entrepreneur (Woman).

With these two awards, she is credited with a total of 23 awards to her name.

Dr Wang’s research, which led to the creation of the Smart Reader Creative Teaching Methodology, has given pre-school education a tremendous facelift and has transformed the landscape of the early childhood education in the country.

Dr Wang, who is also Smart Reader Worldwide group executive director, was instrumental in training educators to imbibe the fun approach in their teaching styles, thereby, creating and sustaining interest among learners to participate in the learning process effectively.

Maca aims to recognise the efforts and contributions of a company, group, organisation or individual that have reached the peak of their endeavours, setting Malaysia’s name and image on the world stage for outstanding achievements.

“An ordinary woman would be contented to be the wife of an enormously successful man and delirious to be the mother of two,” said Dr Wang.

For Dr Wang, however, she always has great foresight of the importance of providing as many children as possible with excellent education for a better future. Since 1987,she has been working with children, conducting research and designing interesting curriculum content for young children.

She founded the Smart Reader Creative Teaching Methodology and compiled it into a book that has benefited hundreds of thousands of children in Asia.

With her years of sheer commitment and dedication to creative teaching styles, these innovative concepts were imbued into the Smart Reader programmes. At Smart Reader Kids, children benefit immensely from interacting in a quality pre-school environment which is contentrich with systematic and appropriate information and innovative teaching materials.

With the establishment of the Smart Reader Kids franchise business concept in 2000, she made a difference in pre-school education.

Besides being a great trainer and teacher, Dr Wang is also an accomplished speaker and facilitator, sharing her wealth of knowledge with the franchise education industry.

From the classroom to the boardroom, Dr Wang has used her keen teaching and entrepreneurial skills to share educational stories with targeted messaging that has bolstered business goals for more than a decade.

Speaking about challenges, Dr Wang said, “Female entrepreneurs are often regarded as second best when compared with men. We have to play our roles as wife and as mother and to most women, family comes first before business.

“Hence, women leaders need to be more motivating, influential and be able to guide and educate others in order to prove ourselves so as to win the recognition, respect and support of other businesspersons,” she asserted.

Dr Wang feels that as leaders, women are able to be passionate and focused on what they do. The ability to be innovative, embrace change and seize opportunities amidst crisis are essential characteristics in women desiring to be entrepreneurs.

Dr Wang’s drive and passion to excel is obvious in her career path. She is always passionate about wanting women to be independent and successful and encourages them to break the glass ceiling to reach greater heights.

She was also awarded The Stevie Award for Women in Business (Asian Entrepreneur) in New York, USA.

In the same year, the World Confederation of Business bestowed the Excellence in Business Leadership and World Leader Businessperson Award in Frankfurt, Germany during The BIZZ Europe 2010.

The rest is history. In short, there is no stopping this remarkable entrepreneur.
