Joy for graduates from Olympia
IT was a joyous celebration for over 500 graduands of Olympia College, Raffles Education Group as they were bestowed their awards in various disciplines including the bachelor’s and master’s awards.
The awards were presented by guest of honour deputy minister of Higher Education Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah at the Royal Ballroom, Istana Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on Feb 25.
Eleven graduates of various disciplines also received their prestigious awards named in honour of Malaysia’s founding fathers and distinguished political figures for their accomplishments in their studies.
Patsy Tan Mei Ling, the recipient of The Dr Raja Tun Mohar Bin Raja Badiozaman’s Award – Best Student Award for Master of Business Administration Programme said: “I’m truly honoured to receive this award as it gives me greater enthusiasm towards lifelong learning and development.
“My gratitude to Olympia College, KL and my independent study supervisor Dr Vijayakumaran for their dedication in my study development.
“The MBA Programme from University of Derby, UK, is an effective tool for job employability and has secured me a managerial position.
“I’m thrilled to receive this prestigious award. I have enjoyed the classes tremendously and the study environment at Olympia College.”
“I was a Student Council committee member and also the treasurer of Executive Business Club,” said Loo Soo Peng, 21, recipient of The Yang Amat Berbahagia Tun Abdul Ghafar Bin Baba’s Award – Best Student Award for Diploma in Business Management Programme.
“I’m happy to receive this award. I have gained a lot of knowledge on I.T.
“Also, I have put a lot of effort in my studies. I plan to continue my studies and hope that I will achieve success in any field,” said Tong Mun Yew, 22 years old, recipient of The Tun Dr Mohamed Suffian Bin Hashim’s Award – Best Student Award for Diploma in I.T Programme.
Eunice Peh Eu Li, 21 years, recipient of The Datuk K. Pathmanaban’s Award – Best Student Award for Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Business Management awarded by University of Derby, UK, said: “I’m surprised and honoured to receive this award.
“The course taught me the managerial aspect of a business including operations management, strategic marketing, planning and quality management.
“As a part-time student, it fitted well into my schedule, having a full day class on Sunday.
“I had good lecturers who related practical to theory and who were passionate about why their subjects were relevant in real life.
“Without excellent lecturers, I could never have done it. I plan to be an entrepreneur some day,” she quipped.
Olympia College offers Masters and undergraduate degree, diploma as well as certificate programmes.
The college has affiliations and partnerships with international bodies and institutions such as Edexcel International, Schiller International University, Business & Hotel Management School (BHMS) Switzerland and University of Information Technology and Management (UITM) Poland.
