An MLT is responsible for providing reliable and accurate laboratory results to doctors who use them to diagnose and treat patients.

Through this programme, students will develop the critical thinking, technical and interpersonal skills required to be a successful clinical laboratory scientist.

It will integrate knowledge gained from general education, health science and clinical laboratory science so that one can exercise good judgment, ethics and appropriate decision-making to serve the needs of the community and the health profession.

The three-year programme provides students with modules created to train them to acquire a solid grasp of knowledge and skills to carry out a range of laboratory tests related to health care services.

The students will be trained to effectively apply their skills to conduct health care tests using the most updated medical instruments. Within a health care environment, they are trained to perform routine diagnosis and tests that identify the symptoms.

Graduates gain employment as medical laboratory technologists in hospitals, private laboratories providers, health clinics and pharmaceutical companies.

Alternatively, they can join the private sector in pharmaceutical sales or as sales consultant related to medical supply companies.

For those inclined to research, they may join higher education institutions or pharmaceutical companies.

Those interested in pursuing their studies to degree level, can study at Management & Science University (MSU) under the Faculty of Health & Life Sciences (FHLS).

Another opportunity for them is the progression to MBBS programme through MSU’S International Medical School (IMS) in Shah Alam campus or in MSU offshore campus in Bangalore, India.
