Be a wireless professional

-

The term “wireless” refers to communication used to transfer information either through short distances or long distances. It includes various mediums such as the television remote control, fixed, cellular or cordless telephone, portable two way radios, personal digital assistants, GPS units, wireless computer mice, keyboards and headsets, satellite television and others.

With the increasing availability of affordable and sophisticated mobile and wireless devices, come the need for specialists in the development of mobile applications and services.

The Management and Science University (MSU) through the Faculty of Information Sciences & Engineering (FISE) complements the need for highly skilled professionals in the mobile and wireless technology by offering both degree and diploma programmes.

This specialisation will partially equip students with the knowledge and skills to enter the emerging and exciting area of mobile and wireless technology that has seen the widespread use of mobile phone technologies (such as 3G), mobile games, the proliferation of wireless networking (W-LANS), the use of Bluetooth personal devices, and Internet technologies.

Mobile devices that contain sophisticated operating systems are becoming one of the most pervasive technological products that are finding large-scale penetration in both business and consumer markets.

The job market for mobile application developers has rapidly increased over the last few years and a diverse number of roles are available for software engineers within the mobile and wireless industry.

The entry requirement to Bachelor programmes is a minimum grade C in two subjects including General Paper and passes D in two subjects in STPM. Students with KPM Matriculation Certificate, A Level, Foundation and other qualifications recognised by the MSU Senate are invited to join the Bachelor programs.

The entry requirements for Diploma programmes are minimum five credits in SPM including Bahasa Malaysia, Mathematics and Science subjects.

The diploma programmes are aimed at providing strong skills and foundation to MSU students so that they can either progress to a firstdegree level study or embark upon a career of their choice.

The programmes are structured to enable students to work theoretically and practically. All MSU diploma students can gain a second year advance standing into MSU bachelor programmes.

A global exposure via MSU’S International Students Exchange Programme (ISEP) unit will further strengthen graduates employability factor.

Through this unit, students have the option of transferring their final year studies at foreign universities which are partners of MSU.

There are over 40 universities in the US, the UK, Australia, Japan, South Africa, India, Eastern Europe, Indonesia and New Zealand for the student’s selection.

MSU has designed its academic programmes and curriculum based on market requirements to ensure the employability of graduates. This goes in line with MSU’S vision of becoming a specialised university of choice, providing holistic academic standards that are relevant to the needs of the industry and the nation. MSU is committed at ensuring the best for its students.
