Look into security of cyber info, says Rosmah

-

PETALING JAYA: More efforts must be made to secure information used on cyberspace, said the Prime Minister’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.

She added that the public now have to contend with concerns over information in the social media sphere, which can be used as tools to destroy reputations.

Rosmah said globally, more than 70,000 new threats are discovered daily and 25.5 million threats are found annually.

“Groups like ‘Anonymous’ and ‘Lulzsec’ have also demonstrated how once highly inaccessible information can now be easily penetrated by external parties who may have economic or political agendas,” she said at the opening ceremony of Infosecurity World Exhibition and Conference 2012 yesterday.

At a separate function, Rosmah said the Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers (Bakti) would continue to work with state-level charitable organisations and give emphasis to employment issues of persons with disabilities or OKU.

Rosmah, who is Bakti president, said the association through its Semai Bakti programme would continue to work with various agencies to identify suitable job placements for these people.

“The Semai Bakti programme is complemented by the Malaysian Information Network on Disability project, which aims to empower persons with disabilities in the country through the preparation and management of relevant information,” she said in her speech at the 35th Bakti Annual General Meeting here yesterday.
