Ring falsifying documents for 6P programme busted
PETALING JAYA: A syndicate involved in falsifying documents for the registration of illegal immigrants under the 6P Programme has been busted.
Acting on public tip off, a team from the Immigration Department went undercover to investigate the premises located in Bandar Baru Bangi on Monday.
The team detained a Bangladeshi man posing as an agent for the registration of illegal immigrants under the 6P Programme and also offering Temporary Employment Passes.
The officers caught the man who claimed he could help process work permits for foreign workers who were registered under the programme.
Fifteen 6P Programme registration slips were found at the premises.
“A local woman and another Bangladeshi man were hauled up for questioning and released after their statements were recorded,” the department said.
In a separate operation, the unit detained another Bangladeshi man suspected to have also been posing as an agent at the department headquarters on Tuesday.
The Bangladeshi men were being detained at the KLIA detention centre to facilitate investigations.
The department also urged members of the public to deal directly with the department on matters related to the registration of foreign workers.
