Govt wants more women in workforce

-

PETALING JAYA: The Government aims to increase women participation in the Malaysian workforce to 55% in three years’ time.

Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Heng Seai Kie said although women had achieved many milestones, their participation in the workforce was still unsatisfactory.

In her speech at the 35th Bakti Annual General Meeting here, Heng said women currently made up 46.1% of the workforce.

“There is also a lack of women in decision-making positions, particularly in the private sector.”

She added that the Government had been making efforts to achieve the goal of having 30% women in decision-making positions.
