Amir Khan wants Fabrice as guest at Lamont fight
LONDON: Bolton fan Amir Khan hopes he will see a special guest at his next fight – stricken pal Fabrice Muamba.
Khan takes on World Boxing Association (WBA) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) world champion Lamont Peterson on May 19 and hopes Muamba will be well enough to be ringside in Las Vegas.
He said: “I know Fabrice quite well and it would be fantastic to see him at ringside. I’ve met him out in Bolton numerous times and also at the club training ground.
“The last time I saw him was actually only a few weeks ago in Manchester and he came over and hugged me.
“We chatted and he said that he was going to come over to Las Vegas formy next fight. He’s a very nice guy and to see that happen is so sad.”
Muamba, 23, is now able to breathe unaided and has been answering questions with his status regarded as serious, not critical by doctors at the London Chest Hospital.
Khan, 25, on his way to the Philippines for a training camp, is a season ticket holder at the Reebok.
And he added: “I’ve been constantly checking for updates on Fabrice and I heard the news he is talking a little bit which is brilliant to hear.”
