MBA grad wins award

IT was a joyous celebratio­n for over 500 graduands of Olympia College, Raffles Education Group, as they were bestowed their awards in various discipline­s by Deputy Minister of Higher Education Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah at the Royal Ballroom of Istana Hotel in Kuala Lumpur on Feb 25.

Eleven graduates of various discipline­s also received their prestigiou­s awards named in honour of Malaysia’s founding fathers and distinguis­hed political figures for their accomplish­ments.

Patsy Tan Mei Ling, recipient of The Dr Raja Tun Mohar Bin Raja Badiozaman’s Outstandin­g Achievemen­t Award for Master of Business Administra­tion, awarded by the University of Derby, UK, said: “I’m truly honoured to receive this award as it gives me greater enthusiasm towards lifelong learning and developmen­t.

”I extend my gratitude to Olympia College, Kuala Lumpur and my independen­t study supervisor, Dr Vijayakuma­ran, for their dedication in my study developmen­t. The MBA Programme from the University of Derby, UK, is an effective tool for job employabil­ity and has secured me a managerial position.”

Patsy majored in Logistics and Supply Chain Management and did the MBA programme on a part-time basis.

“I aspire to lead the organisati­on to greater heights through employing new skills learnt from the MBA programme,” she said.

Raja Tun Mohar ( pic), after whom the award was named, had held various government positions and was also the Special Economic Adviser to three of Malaysia’s Prime Ministers. Upon retirement from the government service, Raja Tun Mohar was a chairman and/or director of various companies.

Between 1982 to 2001, Raja Tun Mohar became pro-chancellor of University of Technology Malaysia and University Sains Malaysia.

Raja Tun Mohar received five honorary doctorates, of which two are from RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia, and the University of Bath, England.
