Bukit Aman’s missing kids portal hailed by Malaysians

- By JUSTIN ZACK newsdesk@thestar.com

PETALING JAYA: The recently launched portal dedicated to finding missing children has received a lot of public attention as Malaysians rally to support efforts to keep children safe.

There were tons of positive comments on the Portal Kanak-Kanak Hilang (Missing Children’s Portal), which the public wrote on at PDRM’s official Facebook page.

At press time, the post had over 1,500 likes and 133 shares.

The portal currently has 53 missing children cases online, with the latest being 11-year-old Jenifer Anthonysamy, who went missing on June 19.

The portal – an initiative by D11, the Sexual Crimes, Domestic Violence and Child Abuse Investigations Division – was created as a platform for the public to share information on missing children.

It breaks down reported cases state by state and comes with the picture of the missing child, and lists down the full name of the children, as well as their age, race, physical description and the date they were reported missing.

In some cases, a description of their noticeable birthmarks will be given to better aid identification.

If the public has any additional information about a particular missing child, they can contribute to the investigation by clicking a link available below each case.

There they can leave their contact details and any new relevant information regarding the missing person for the police to take further action.

The names of the investigating officers for the respective cases are also listed should the public wish to contact them via the general line.
