Liverpool order ‘sick’ Raheem to join tour

-

LONDON: Liverpool have told Raheem Sterling he must go on the club’s preseason tour.

The Kop rebel missed training on Wednesday, claiming he was ill, after informing boss Brendan Rodgers (pic) he did not want to be considered for the trip to Asia and Australia.

Despite relations between the club and player hitting rockbottom, Anfield chiefs are adamant that Sterling joins his teammates for Sunday’s flight.

And Sterling’s agent Aidy Ward admitted: “There has been a breakdown in trust between Raheem and Brendan.”

Liverpool were set to send a doctor to give Sterling a checkup and the wantaway winger, 20, faces a massive fine if he does not turn up for the fourgame trip.

He could also be left sweating on a move to Manchester City, who are the only club to make offers for him.

Now City sources claim they have no immediate plans to meet Liverpool’s £50mil (RM292mil) asking price.

Furious Liverpool fans have been bombarding wantaway Sterling with vile abuse after his phone number was leaked online.

The forward has received hundreds of calls, texts and “racist” insults.

Some fans posted recordings of calls with the England ace online, while others listed his home address and suggested “smashing the place up”.

Sterling’s number was leaked after he refused to join Liverpool’s tour. One message sent to him read: “Dirty money grabbing rat. The sooner you f *** off the better.”

A source close to Sterling, 20 said: “The abuse has been borderline racist.

“These fans have been fed his number by someone. He’ll be changing it soon.”

One Twitter user urged others to send “skips” to the star’s Southport home.

Cops were on Wednesday investigating the poster who gave Sterling’s address.
