M’sians not affected in mall shooting
PETALING JAYA: No Malaysians were affected in the Munich shooting incident reportedly perpetrated by a lone assailant at the Olympia Einkaufzentrum shopping mall.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement yesterday the German authorities disclosed that 10 people, including the alleged gunman, were killed and 16 others injured.
“The Embassy of Malaysia in Berlin and the Consulate-General of Malaysia in Frankfurt are in close contact with the local authorities and have provided timely updates to the Malaysian community there over the incident.
“Several groups of Malaysians who were near the vicinity during the incident, including a team of Malaysian athletes who are currently participating in the 7th Track Open bowling tournament in Munich, have contacted our diplomatic missions and reported to be safe at secured locations,” it added.
The ministry conveyed condolences to the families of the victims.
