remembering MH17

More than 200 family members and friends gathered at the Flight Management Building of Kuala Lumpur International Airport to honour the memory of the 15 crew members of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 which was was shot down over Ukraine while flying to Kuala Lumpur from Amsterdam on July 17, 2014. The Boeing 777 aircraft was carrying 298 people.

Turkey arrested 6,000 people after a failed military coup, with President Erdogan vowing to purge state bodies of the “virus” that caused the revolt. The overall death toll for the weekend violence rose to 290.
