Student undergoes brain op after assault by bullies

ALOR SETAR: A Form Two pupil had to undergo cranial surgery to remove a blood clot in his brain after he was allegedly beaten up by three schoolmate­s in Sungai Petani on Sunday.

The alleged incident is believed to have occurred between 10am and 11am in SMK Khir Johari here.

The boy, 14, returned home at about 2.30pm and went to sleep without having his lunch.

He later told his mother he was beaten by three schoolmate­s and his head had hit a wall during the fight.

He then complained of pain in his head and was rushed to the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital at about 4pm by his father.

He was then transferre­d to the Sultanah Bahyah Hospital in Alor Setar as he had to undergo cranial surgery to remove a blood clot in his brain early yesterday morning.

The teen is now warded at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.

His father lodged a police report over the incident at the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital police beat base on Sunday night.

He said that doctors told him his son would “not be as normal as before” due to the head injury.

Kuala Muda district police chief Asst Comm Md Zukir Md Isa confirmed a report had been made over the incident.

He said that the case would be investigat­ed under S325 of Penal Code for causing grievous hurt.
