Sakho launches late-night Snapchat rant at Liverpool

-

LONDON: Mamadou Sakho has launched a late-night Snapchat rant criticising Liverpool’s treatment of him.

The Reds defender, 26, took to the social media app at about 3am in the morning to vent about Juergen Klopp’s decision to freeze him out of the team. Sakho opted to remain at Anfield over the summer despite Klopp suggesting he was not a major part of his plans this season.

The German said earlier this week that the French defender, who has not played a single minute of football this term, was a long way off playing for him again.

But Sakho disagrees with Klopp, insisting he can accept the situation but not the “lie”.

In a series of five pictures posted to his Snapchat story, he wrote: “Now it’s three weeks I am fit to play games. I finish all my rehabilitation work. They don’t want me to play also with second team lol! Why i don’t know.

“Still working hard like Scouse Soldier! Still not talking because I want to speak on the pitch ... I will speak soon for the people who support me and don’t understand the situation.

“Still happy to live in my “Liverpool Country” with my family, hope to have a chance to play soon to give my best like I try to do always!

“I accept my situation but I can’t accept the lie ... The fans deserve to know the truth! Thanks for your support.

“Six months (I) stay quiet ... Have a good night everybody! You Never Walk Alone”

Sakho suggests he has been unable to build his match fitness in Liverpool’s Under-23s side.

His tirade will not go down well with Klopp, who sent the former Paris St Germain defender home from the club’s pre-season tour of America for being repeatedly late. Speaking about reintroducing Sakho into the team earlier this week, Klopp said: “(He’s) still working on it. He’s closer to everything.

“He’s still working, but it’s a big difference between match fitness, that’s all. It’s not about how the player feels, it’s about how I feel.

“It needs time, for sure. It makes more sense to really use the time, and that’s what we’re working on.”
