Doodling on campus
MORE than 70 students from INTI’s Centre of Arts and Design (ICAD) gathered together last week in an effort to draw a 300 feet doodle covering its Subang campus.
Felicia Puah who is a first year Fashion Design student at ICAD, made colourful strokes on the glass panel with over 75 other INTI students in their attempt to create history.
The result saw over 300 feet of hand drawn doodles covering INTI’s Subang campus with an effort that took almost five hours.
“One of education’s key objectives is to empower students to express their creativity.
“Every one of us has a story and we often use many different forms to express it,” said ICAD dean Ang Tong Yin.
An opportunity was provided for students to get their creative juices flowing, and most importantly to have fun, said Ang.
The doodling event was held in conjunction with ICAD Day, a one-day annual event organised by the faculty to celebrate students’ achievements and showcase their talents.
During the event, there were also sharing sessions by three ICAD students who had made significant achievements over the last year.
The students were final year Diploma in Multimedia and Animation student Tan Bee Chin, second year Graphic Design students from Sheffield Hallam University Yap Yi Le and Chow Yee Lee.
“It’s great to have these students share their experiences with others with the hope that such stories will inspire their classmates to achieve the same.
“When we work with industry partners, we want to provide students with a deep passion for Art and Design with an outlet to unleash their creative potential. We are glad it is paying dividends,” said Ang.
Through its close ties with over 400 employer partners, INTI provides various platforms for students to gain industry relevant skills and experiences.
Students also have the opportunity to work with industry partners on projects that may have actual and immediate impact on participating companies, which enable them to develop and enhance 21st century skills.
