Najib meeting Merkel to boost bilateral ties
PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s planned meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel is expected to strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries.
A Foreign Ministry statement said Najib is scheduled to meet with Merkel during his official visit to Germany from today until Wednesday.
The two leaders are expected to discuss bilateral, regional and multilateral issues, added the statement.
“The visit is also expected to increase capacity-building between the two countries especially in the field of trade and investment, vocational training and education, agriculture, science and technology, and infrastructure development,” said Wisma Putra.
Najib will hold a dialogue session with German business leaders and meet with the Malaysian community and students in Germany.
The Prime Minister will be accompanied by his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong as well as senior government officials.
