Young woman critically hurt in accident

KOTA KINABALU: A woman was critically injured and remains unconsciou­s after an accident involving three vehicles including that of assistant Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Masiung Banah.

Lily Tang Yien Ping, 22, who was driving a Perodua Axia was said to have exited a T-junction at the Berungis-Tenghilan road 45km from here without stopping and was rammed by Masiung’s four-wheel drive vehicle in the 9.30am accident.

The impact also resulted in another car that was parked by the roadside being hit by the Axia. Its 64-year-old driver was unhurt.

Tuaran police chief Deputy Supt Abdul Fuad Abdul Malek said Tang injured her head severely was still receiving emergency treatment. All other victims escaped unscathed.

It is believed that the woman was careless and had not looked properly before driving out of the junction prior to the mishap, said DSP Fuad.
