> Time to act

Many youngsters are gambling. For example, in Jalan Chan Sow Lin, there are lots of snooker centres with gambling activities inside. DBKL and the police should raid these outlets. Illegal money-lenders are paying no heed to the authorities and putting up banners in every nook and corner, especially in Section 8, Bandar Mahkota Cheras. Why have the police and Kajang Municipal Council not taken any action? Please emulate the Ampang police and nab these culprits. – Elaine

> Civility triumphs

When Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton were asked at the end of their second presidential debate what good they saw in each other, Hillary said Donald had a good family. Donald accepted it as a compliment and in turn praised Hillary for her fighting spirit. > Unique Malaysia

Ours must be the only country in the world where our King is chosen from among the Sultans every five years. This is unique and has served us well. We must maintain this rotation in the years to come. Daulat Tuanku!

> Anniversary gathering

The forthcoming 200th anniversary of the Penang Free School brings memories of school days in 1949 back. Early in 1950, our headmaster Mr D. Roper convened an assembly in the school hall to bid farewell to Eddy Choong who had just completed his studies. All of us were awed that Choong was so fortunate to go to England to further his studies. Mr Roper himself was a humble man. He used to cycle to school.

> Prices on the up and up

Houses, cars, food and medicine are so expensive! How can we save money even if we earn good income? It seems that the more income we earn, the more prices of items are increasing. The key solution is the Government which must control the prices so that everybody can survive even with a meagre income. – DG

> No one above the law

Former Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan is correct when he said not getting approval to peaceful assembly but going ahead with it is wrong! No one is above the law! – CK Hock
