Klopp gets double boost with Clyne and Lovren back in training
LONDON: Liverpool have got a massive double-boost for the Monday clash with old enemies Manchester United with key defenders Nathaniel Clyne and Dejan Lovren back in action.
Lovren missed the international games with Croatia against Kosovo and Finland last week with a knock he picked up against Swansea during the Kop side’s last English Premier League outing.
Clyne was desperately unlucky to miss out on Gareth Southgate’s first squad, thanks to a brilliant start to the season, after aggravating his knee in the win over the Welsh side.
Both the centrehalf and rightback were training at Juergen Klopp’s Melwood base on Wednesday ahead of the classic showdown.
Lovren was put through some textbook heading drills while Clyne was spotted stretching out his hamstrings with stellar summing signing Sadio Mane.
Anfield midfielders Adam Lallana and Gini Wijnaldum have not been seen back in action yet after suffering with their own injury problems.
The Three Lions playmaker suffered a groin problem in Francesco Guidolin’s last game in charge.
Wijnaldum, meanwhile, could spark a club vs country row after complaining of a hamstring issue at half time, during Holland’s match with France, but was forced to play on until the hour mark when he had to be withdrawn.
Emre Can could also feature as he is back to full fitness after struggling for a game after playing at the Euros and picking up a knock at the start of the season. — The Sun, London
