PETALING JAYA: Companies which support illegal assemblies will be blacklisted immediately from getting government contracts, says Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan.

The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department said he would request the Economic Planning Unit, which he heads, and the Public-Private Partnership Unit (UKAS) to look into the background of all the companies which apply for government tenders through these two entities.

“I am sure there are other companies that could give the same, if not better, terms and conditions to the Government if they are given the chance.

“The time for being soft and tolerant is over.

“I will boycott companies which help movements that threaten the country’s economic security,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Abdul Rahman was responding to an opinion piece written by Awang Selamat in yesterday’s Mingguan Malaysia.

The article spoke “about the existence of companies and entrepreneurs, which are said to have received government contracts, but are sponsoring Bersih rallies with the intention to topple the Government”.

“I agree with Awang Selamat that these companies should be blacklisted,” added Abdul Rahman yesterday.

UKAS of the Prime Minister’s Department is the core agency tasked with the responsibility to coordinate public-private partnership projects which can receive the facilitation fund set up under 10th Malaysia Plan.

The time for being soft and tolerant is over. I will boycott companies which help movements that threaten the country’s economic security. Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan.
