EcoWorld summit to celebrate female professionals from all walks of life
PETALING JAYA:
Eco World Development Group Bhd (EcoWorld) is celebrating, empowering and inspiring women on International Women’s Day, which falls on March 8.
It will hold its second instalment of the EcoWorld Women’s Summit, with the theme “Women 360°”, in recognition of women’s abilities to manage various roles.
“Last year’s summit was a huge success, with sharing sessions by women leaders from the Government and corporate sector.
“This year, we have increased our scope to include successful women from different walks of life.
“Whether they are champions in the corporate sector or arts and culture, we believe our speakers will inspire everyone with their journeys to success,” said EcoWorld chairman Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin.
The EcoWorld Women’s Summit is part of a series of engagement workshops by EcoWorld for its Professional Women’s Network (PWN), which was launched last year in conjunction with International Women’s Day.
“As the name suggests, PWN includes all female employees in the company and seeks to expose them to structured learning events that will empower and help them realise their potential on the professional front.
“We are proud to be driving this agenda in our workforce and hope this platform will enable our staff to achieve their goals and aspirations,” said Liew.
EcoWorld president and CEO Datuk Chang Khim Wah said that “it has been a great journey for EcoWorld in the last three years and our achievements would not have been possible without a strong female workforce.
“We are proud to have the dedicated Team EcoWorld, comprising about 1,100 employees, 50% of which are female.
“We are looking forward to this year’s summit, which is bigger and better, and we are committed to growing PWN organically and sustainably.”
EcoWorld believes that enrichment programmes are vital for career women to develop leadership skills and confidence.
“At EcoWorld, many women hold important positions such as engineers, quantity surveyors and architects.
“Support groups, training programmes and career development talks can help women further excel in their career,” said EcoWorld divisional general manager of group talent management Angelin Low.
EcoWorld also has a host of initiatives and policies to ensure the workplace is conducive for all employees, including childcare leave, flexible work arrangement, EcoWorld’s Parents’ Network and health and wellbeing initiatives.
This year’s EcoWorld Women’s Summit: Women 360° will feature stories, inspirations and even “battle scars” from women of various backgrounds and experiences.
The speakers include British High Commissioner to Malaysia Victoria Treadell, TalentCorp chief executive officer Shareen Shariza Abdul Ghani, IBM Malaysia managing director Chong Chye Neo, Women:girls founder and president Low Ngai Yuen, Hong Leong Investment Bank managing director and chief executive officer Lee Jim Leng and model/actress Bernie Chan.
The summit will be held at Bukit Bintang City Centre sales gallery in Kuala Lumpur.
