Let teachers do their part
I refer to “Appreciate the contribution of teachers” (The Star, Feb 17) where the writer highlighted the problems posed by some parents in defending their children’s behaviour at school.
These parents should let the teachers go about discharging their duties. Aren’t teachers the substitute for parents in school? Teachers should be given the liberty to deal with academic and attitude matters. When a child behaves badly at home, parents tend to scold them. However, when teachers do the same, they are often questioned by the very same parents.
This indirectly gives the green light for the students to do whatever they wish in school, and hence, prevents them from focusing on their lessons. It is imperative that parents believe that teachers who are educating their children in this digital age have been well-trained by the professionals. Let us salute the teachers for their immense contribution to our nation and allow them to do their best.
