HULU SELANGOR: Barisan Nasional and Umno leaders began a series of ‘Ceramah Rakyat’ to explain to the people various current issues, including those raised by the Opposition.

The first session saw Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department and Barisan communications director Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan and Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Tan Sri Noh Omar getting down to the business of meeting potential grassroots supporters.

The session held, at Taman Bunga Raya, Bukit Beruntung on Saturday night, was also attended by Gerakan president Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong and MIC deputy president Datuk Seri S.K. Devamany.

Among the topics touched upon by Abdul Rahman included possible economic sabotage by certain parties, including accusations against

government- linked companies (GLC) for the purposes of toppling the Government.

“I want to remind the Opposition not to sabotage the country’s economy, as it will ultimately be detrimental to the people,” he said at a talk titled Negaraku, Generasiku (“My Country, My Generation”).

Abdul Rahman had stressed that action had to be taken against parties who tried to sabotage the country’s economy, as they could bring great harm to the nation and its citizens.

Noh said the failure of the Selangor state government could be seen from the poor maintenance of its low-cost housing infrastructure, its waste management, water supply and the dengue outbreak.

He also pointed out that Barisan has greatly assisted Selangor even though the state is not under Barisan rule, all for the sake of the people.

The matter was also explained by Mah and Devamany and they told the people not to be easily deceived by the Opposition, including issues about the economy.

The series of talks will be extended to other states.

I want to remind the Opposition not to sabotage the country’s economy, as it will ultimately be detrimental to the people. Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan
