DAP trying to hide its woes, says Liow

‘Loke’s challenge a diversionary tactic’

-

PUTRAJAYA: MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai has scoffed at DAP’s Anthony Loke’s interest in contesting against him in Bentong, describing it as an attempt to divert attention from the party’s internal problems.

The Bentong MP said that DAP was “bankrupt of ideas” and Loke’s challenge was just one of the party’s many ways of deflecting the public’s focus from the squabbles within the party.

“DAP is facing many internal problems, which has caused its grassroots members to leave the party, like in Malacca.

“Many of their members do not agree with the party’s leadership under Lim Kit Siang and his son Guan Eng.

“These two refuse to listen to the grassroots and are more concerned with gaining more power.

“In DAP, you are only allowed to be a follower of Kit Siang or Guan Eng. Otherwise, you will not be allowed to stay in DAP,” said Liow when met by reporters at his ministry yesterday.

by DAP, Loke was asked which seat he would like to stand in if he could choose to contest another seat. The Seremban MP said he would be interested to contest in Bentong and face Liow.

“This is just one of their ways to divert attention from their own problems. They are bankrupt of ideas,” said Liow.

Last month, Kota Melaka MP Sim Tong Him and three state assemblymen announced their resignations from DAP, citing their disapproval of the current DAP leadership.

Last week, outgoing Malacca DAP vice-chairman Liou Chen Kuang announced the resignations of 182 members.
