IGP: His acts brought shame to country

MALACCA: Ibrahim Mat Zin, also known as Raja Bomoh Sedunia, will be summoned to give his statement after a slew of police reports were made against him.

His acts had brought shame to the country and were against the tenets of religion, Inspector- General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said.

He said police would track him down if he did not comply.

Ibrahim would be summoned under Section 111 of the Criminal Procedure Code, he told reporters after attending a donation drive here yesterday.

Recently, Ibrahim performed a ritual outside the National Institute of Forensic Medicine at Hospital Kuala Lumpur here over the assassination of Kim Jong-nam, the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

A three-minute video of Ibrahim conducting a ritual on a beach to protect Malaysia from a North Korean nuclear attack also went viral.

The video had featured Ibrahim and his three assistants wading in water with two coconuts, a pair of sticks used as binoculars, five bamboo cannons, a carpet and a bowl of seawater.

A controversial figure, Ibrahim first made headlines in March 2014 when he conducted two rituals at the KL International Airport to supposedly locate the missing MH370 plane.

Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohmad Salleh said the case came under the Federal Territories Islamic Department (Jawi) but police would give its assistance.

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, who is in charge of Islamic affairs, was quoted as saying that Ibrahim was tarnishing the religion’s image and that Jawi and the police have been tracking him since Monday.

Federal Territories mufti Datuk Zulkif li Mohamad al- Bakri had also condemned Ibrahim for practising animistic rituals that were forbidden in Islam and which must be stopped.
