Over 265,000 apply for affordable houses in Johor

“All applications will be vetted one by one by the committee and the process is fair and transparent. This is to ensure only those eligible will be chosen,” he said in a statement.
Kamaruzzaman said JCorp subsidiary Johor Land Bhd – which has been appointed to construct 1,840 landed and high-rise units priced between RM80,000 and RM420,000, under phase one of the project – Sultan was committed to delivering the units on time.
He said JCorp was confident of Johor Land’s ability based on its good track record, expertise and experience in property development.
Sultan Ibrahim had on Wednesday launched the housing project, which was his brainchild, in conjunction with his 59th official birthday celebration yesterday. It was his gift to the people of Johor.
The pilot project, initiated under the Sultan Ibrahim Foundation, will see the development of the affordable houses at two strategic locations – Bandar Dato Onn and Bandar Baru Majidee along Jalan Tebrau – where 840 houses will be built.
Kamaruzzaman said 320 apartments, priced below RM150,000 would be built in two blocks on a 2.75ha lot at Bandar Baru Majidee starting mid-2017, and the two blocks were slated for completion in 2019.
The construction of 520 houses, comprising 190 terrace houses, 130 semi-detached houses and 200 bungalows on 21.3ha in Bandar Dato Onn will start at the end of the year.
The terrace houses will have a total area of 1,031sq ft, semi-detached houses, 1,068sq ft and the bungalows, 1,298.1sq ft.
Another project, to be undertaken by Mutiara SCity Sdn Bhd, will have 1,000 units on a Malay reserve land in Bukit Saujana and they will be priced between RM297,000 and RM420,000.
