Cops hope to get hold of six suspects
JOHOR BARU: Police are working with their Indonesian counterparts to extradite six suspects from Batam involved in the kidnapping of a housewife in Johor.
The suspects were also being investigated for the offence in their homeland, said deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Zakaria Ahmad.
“Investigations into the case is almost completed,” he said, adding that the remand order on the suspects arrested in Johor would end tomorrow.
Nineteen people, including the main coordinator, were nabbed in the case of a woman who was kidnapped from her home in Kulai on Feb 21 and later held captive in Batam.
The housewife was released 27 days later after her family paid a ransom.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar had said that 13 suspects were nabbed in Johor while the rest were caught in Batam.
