The Star ePaper to be available at MAS lounges
Free access for seven days after service is available at local airports
PETALING JAYA: The anytime anywhere convenience of The Star ePaper can be enjoyed by passengers at Malaysia Airlines (MAS) lounges in local airports from next month.
Access to the e-paper will be free for seven days after the service is made available, said Jenny See, a manager with Star Media Group’s audience management department.
Passengers will use the WiFi at the MAS lounges at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, KLIA2, Kota Kinabalu International Airport and Kuching International Airport to read the e-paper.
See said the The Star ePaper was already available at all 17 Plaza Premium airport lounges in Malaysia, plus another two in Cambodia.
Passengers read the e-paper for free at these lounges, she said.
See said the ePaper subscription growth has been phenomenal and stood at 115,000.
The take up for the e-paper in East Malaysia, she said, was 6,000, which was more than the 5,300 subscribers of the newspaper before printing there was stopped.
She said The Star ePaper appealed to younger readers – those aged between 20 and 40, and who were always on the go.
And the e-paper was available daily from as early as 5am, she said.
She added that those living in condominiums with strict security also found it more convenient to get the e-paper.
A subscriber to the e-paper, Santharuban Thurai Sundaram, said the appeal was that people could get the news anywhere and read it at their convenience.
“Even Malaysians who are overseas can keep up with what’s happening in the country,” said the marketing manager.
He said another benefit was that many more people could have access to the e-paper compared to a copy of the physical newspaper, which was especially useful for organisations with a large number of personnel.
Also, the e-paper was good for the environment, he added.
