Johan did one last song, his best, says wife

THE late Johan Nawawi had completed a song prior to his death and asked his wife, singer Nora Ariffin, to listen to it, reported BH Hip, the entertainment pullout of Berita Harian.

“A day before he died, he finished the song composition. When he returned home, he was so excited and asked me to listen to it.

“He said it was the best song he had composed,” said Nora.

The popular composer died early Friday at a medical centre in Subang Jaya, Selangor. The couple had four children.

Nora described Johan as “the best man” in her life as well as someone who worked really hard.

“I thought I will meet God first, but God loves him more,” she said.

Born in 1965, Johan made a name for himself in the 1980s, writing romantic ballads and pop songs like Desa Tercinta, Naluri and Jentayu.

A number of the songs were written for Nora but many top Malaysian artistes also had hits composed by Johan.

When he was only 19, he worked on the lyrics of a song that Adnan Abu Hassan, who died last year, had written.

That song was Sinaran, which was performed by a then relatively unknown Sheila Majid, and which went on to become an iconic hit for the singer.

Customers are required to pay RM30 an hour to book a karaoke room and another RM30 for any woman they want.

Early bookings are required as there are only two karaoke rooms available.
