MIB shows PM’s commitment to help Indians
PETALING JAYA: The launch of the Malaysian Indian Blueprint (MIB) has been lauded as a display of the Government’s commitment and efforts to integrate and engage the Indian community into the mainstream of national development.
Malaysian Indian Community Centre chief executive officer Anbumani Balan said Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is the only Prime Minister who has taken a series of steps, with comprehensive planning and implementation, to address issues faced by the community including setting up various committees with action plans and solutions with funding.
“Najib’s announcement that he himself will chair the Cabinet committee on Indian affairs shows that he is clear with his “to do list” and walking the talk,” Anbumani said in a statement.
The political analyst said it was time to move on with a clearer vision to put an end to the challenges faced by the community.
“Constructive criticism can be an added value to the blueprint to be more inclusive and address the critical issues faced by the Indian community.
“Empty talk and campaigns with political rhetoric are not going to help the community,” he said.
He said the implementation body must be neutral, open minded and fair in order to create positive impressions and be ready to counter all negative elements.
“It’s not time to show egoism nor is it a platform for political mileage.
“There is a need for strong and united Malaysian Indians from all stakeholders to be a part of the implementation body to start this new journey,” added Anbumani yesterday.
Malaysian AntiCorruption Commission operational evaluation panel member and social activist Datuk Selva Mookiah said the MIB is only the first step in an arduous journey for the community to return to the mainstream of Malaysian society.
“The success of the blueprint depends on its implementation. The community must not tolerate indecorous behaviour and return to the core values enshrined in their culture to utilise the benefits being made available,” he said.
