Llorente targets more goals to aid Swansea

LONDON: Swansea striker Fernando Llorente (pic) is keen to score more goals in the club’s four remaining English Premier League games and help them avoid relegation.

Llorente, who is Swansea’s leading goalscorer with 12 strikes, opened the scoring in Saturday’s 20 home win over Stoke.

The victory was Swansea’s second in eight league games and took them to within two points of safety.

“It was nice to score early on in the game because it helped the team. It gave us all some confidence,” Llorente said.

“But now I have to continue to score to help us avoid relegation. We have four games left and I hope to score a few more.”

The 32yearold Spaniard feels the Stoke victory gave Swansea the confidence to try and win at Manchester United on Sunday.

“We have a very difficult match at Old Trafford next ... We want to try to win again,” Llorente said.

“The last few results have not been good. We needed one win to get the belief and confidence back and we have done that. It’s very important.”

After the United match, Swansea host sixthplaced Everton, travel to basement side Sunderland and end the season at home against West Bromwich Albion. – Reuters
