Mum falls for man matchmade to daughter

A 49-YEAR-OLD single mother accompanie­d her daughter to meet the man who was to be her match but instead ended up falling in love with the prospectiv­e groom, Guang Ming Daily reported.

The woman from Jiangsu province, China, went with her 21-yearold daughter to meet the businessma­n who was matchmade to her last year.

But the daughter was not interested in the 29-year-old man so they did not pursue a relationsh­ip.

Early this year, the daughter checked her mother’s phone and found out that she had been secretly dating the man for months.

The daughter was angry and wanted her mother, who is now four months’ pregnant, to break up with the businessma­n.

The dispute was settled after they went for counsellin­g, the newspaper reported.

Ten-month-old Goh Chen Kai needs to undergo the surgery before he turns one.

His parents, Goh Kong Yee and Tan Chai Fen, could only raise RM20,000 for the operation which is expected to cost RM95,000.

On Monday, One Hope Charity & Welfare donated RM10,000 to the family and the couple called on the public to help their baby.

> Kwong Wah Yit Poh reported that a five-year-old boy tore up a stack of 100 yuan notes, causing his father to lose about 50,000 yuan (RM31,200).

The man, identified only as Gao, from Shandong province, China, left his son alone at home while he went out to buy groceries on May 18.

When Gao returned, he was shocked to see the money he kept at home had been torn to pieces.

Gao brought the notes to several banks but was told that he could only exchange them for new notes if he could piece them back together.
