PASIR MAS: Tired of being bullied repeatedly by his classmate, 15-year-old Mohammad Syafiq Haikal Mukhatar found the courage to stand up to him.

Unfortunately, he ended up being wheeled into the operating theatre last week to remove blood clots from his head, as the classmate allegedly became even more violent when confronted and kicked Syafiq repeatedly in the head.

Syafiq underwent a four-hour operation at Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia in Kota Baru last Thursday.

His father Mukhatar Che Husin, 55, lodged a police report on Tuesday, four days after his son regained consciousness following the surgery. Mukhatar wants the authorities to intervene to address bullying in school.

“My son will miss his lessons as he is on medical leave for at least 22 days,” he said.

“I pray for his recovery. And I hope he would not face other medical problems as a result of the head injury.

“And when my son returns to school, I hope it would be free of bullying cases.”

Pasir Mas district police confirmed receiving the report.

In a separate incident in Kuala Krai, a 47-year-old man was found dead days after religious authorities raided his house for suspected khalwat.

Kelantan Religious Affairs Department officers raided the house together with the police on Friday following a tip-off from the public.

The man managed to escape, but was found dead on Tuesday behind a house in Laloh.

The deceased’s brother found the decomposed body and lodged a report at the Laloh police station.

Kuala Krai OCPD Supt Abdullah Roning said they have classified the case as sudden death.

Abdullah said the deceased’s 23-year-old son had confirmed that his father was diagnosed with a heart ailment a year ago.

Abdullah said there were no injuries on the body or signs of foul play.
